I needed to get out of the house today so I went to visit the baby Ava since it's been about 2 weeks not counting the brief lunch at the Chinese resto last week. She'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow and already visibly bigger than that tiny newborn. Her Auntie N got to hold her a lot and I think Suzanne was glad for the respite so she and Richard could get outside on this beautiful day to walk their dogs. My mom was over there, too, fixing dinner for them and we were getting into our usual humorous bumbling disagreements over how to best prepare the roast and later over how to work the television.
me: Is this plate clean?
mom: Yes.
me: Okay.
mom: Well, it did have the roast on it earlier.
me: You were going to let me eat off a plate that had raw meat on it?!??
mom: It's mostly clean.
me: Are you trying to kill me?
me: How do you fix the reception on this thing?
mom: I don't know. It's better than my picture at home, though.
me: What?!? It's like watching an impressionist painting ...
I left at a good time. When I got home Lovett was over with Bruce making compilations so I made banana bread and turkey burritos using the leftovers (OMG, I cooked!).
In other news, Omaha Public Library director Rivkah Sass has been named Library Journal's
Librarian of the Year. She's a neat lady and totally deserves it. I may be permanently borrowing that issue from my library.
I also found out that Hem will be releasing a new album soon. They do a beautiful cover of REM's
South Central Rain which would be today's new musical discovery.
