RIP Simon Peter, 4/22/2012

Apr 25, 2012 02:20

Being able to love, and love deeply, is what makes us human.  It is that which demonstrates the God-in-us nature of our creation.  That we can love with even a fraction of the love we are shown, knowing that love means opening the self to pain, is what transcends our baser selves.

But you know what?  I would trade all of that philosophical revelation to kiss his soft face again.

Simon, you came into my life on June 2, 2003, when we found one another in the Humane Society.  You pulled my hair with your claws, and I fell in love with your face.  Your time with me was too short, and your heart too big.  You were a perfect soul.  You brought joy to everyone who met you, with your smiling eyes and your bumbly raccoon shape.  There will never be another you, but you will live forever inside of me, and your head-butts and face rubs will comfort my memory.  I will always miss you.

simon and sev, resurrection, good-byes
