Thanks,
doctoreon for posting the link to
this on your lj. As I have said before, I'm really apolitical and I try to know as little as possible about the individuals running for president because it makes for a happier and more self-fulfilled life. Yes, I am selfish, and no, I am highly intelligent (but highly unmotivated). I don't want to know details about the prospective first ladies, care very little about how nice they are as women or how loving they are as mothers; I could care less about the fluffy crap regarding McCain and Obama and frankly it matters little to me that one's a former P.O.W. and the other is African-American. But there are a few issues that do give me hives, and one of them - surprise, surprise - is religion. Yes, I have a degree in theology, and I've probably said my fair share of offensive things to people in the past. There are few denominations I don't get along with, but I've had very bad experiences with the Assemblies of God church (I'm sure they *can* be nice, just like they're *sure* some Catholics go to heaven). I didn't realize Sarah Palin was associated with them. Frankly, they give me the willies.
Given her long affiliation with the Assemblies of God church, Palin very likely believes that Biblical prophecy is an infallible guide to future events and that we are living in the "end times."
I won't base voting choices on this...probably...but it is enough to give me pause....
