So I went to see the doc today. I don't think I've mentioned this on LJ (unlike real life, where I whine nonstop) but I have really retarded legs. When I was really little the doctor said I might need leg braces because I walked completely on the arch of my foot and it was twisting my leg. In the end we settled for really good shoes. ^^
But since kickboxing, my shins have been bothering me like crazy - they hurt like fuck when I so much as jog. Our guess was shin splints, and the doctor confirmed it with a fancier name. He says it isn't serious right now but to back off of kickboxing. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO FOR EXERCISE? ;skfjgl;dkfjg I dunno. I might just go and not do any of the running, which, he says, is what's aggravating it. I could just do the stretching and the kickboxing itself. He says also no lunges or squats - two of my instructor's favorite exercises. Hm.
The other thing is my knees, which have been really sensitive ever since fencing a few years ago. I quit a while back, but they still burn like holy hell sometimes, particularly during exercise. Good news: nothing wrong with my muscles, so I can keep developing them in other ways. Bad news: it's my tendons, which are much more delicate and important. If I badly fuck up a tendon, it is not a small thing. Right now it isn't serious, but it could become serious.
SO. The verdict is that horseback riding is still fine but I should really ease up on running, skipping, jogging, anything where I'm bouncing, because it's torquing my legs and therefore putting more stress on the bones.
GAH. MY ONLY CONSOLATION IS JUST HOW VERY FUCKING ADORABLE LUCIAN LOOKS RIGHT NOW. Ohmygod, he stuck his face in my bowl of popcorn and now there's a little piece of it stuck on his nose and he's shaking his head and pawing at his face and he's gone all cross-eyed and oh my god this cat is cuteness embodied. I'm not even making this up - this shit is too good to make up. Oh my god. ♥
