Oh hai Livejournal, I forgot how to use you.
NOW EXCUSE ME WHILE I FANGIRL.
OK. OK.
Ok so, because they are bosses,
pymparticles and
Speth bought me a ticket to go and see Design for Living for my birthday and I was mega-excited, because not only do I have an inappropriate and burning crush on Andrew Scott, but
pymparticles had already seen it and said it was awesome. I was going to buy myself a ticket but my friends are better than yours and pipped me to the post.
I met up with
pymparticles on the train, and we rode like bosses into London, where we met
Speth and headed straight for the theatre. The stage set up was absolutely incredible, and I was sort of squealing inside all the way through. It was REALLY HARD to not make noises when, at one point, Andrew Scott stepped up to the main woman (who was sat on a table) and slowly spread her legs, then stood between them and kissed her and I almost died on the spot.
Anyway, the play was fantastic and I loved it a lot. The acting was superb. My only quibble was that I haaated the female character, Gilda. I don't know if it was the actress, or the character, but she was such a self absorbed ME ME ME bitch that I just couldn't like her. I'm glad it all ended happily for them, though.
SO we decided beforehand (like, weeks before) that we were totally going to stalk Andrew Scott after the play, and by the time we got to the stage door he was already there. I got totally flustered and panicked a bit but he was so lovely and saw us and was like HELLO! And I sort of blurted HELLO WE LOVED THE PLAY SO MUCH and he went "oh, thank you!" and then I was all CAN I BE REALLY OBNOXIOUS AND ASK YOU TO SIGN THIS AND GET A PHOTO? And he was so sweet and obliging, and.
Ok, so, firstly if you are not familiar with
Pin Up RDJ, you should be.
Speth is AMAZING and had a calendar made for me using the images from there, and, because I thought it would be funny, I asked Andrew Scott to sign it.
I have this thing when I meet people I admire I SCARE THEM (see: the Julian Barratt incident), and he sort of looked at me and laughed a bit and was like OOOOK? He said "Are you a fan of RDJ?" and I sort of went HAHA A BIT? and then felt like a complete idiot. I told him I'd seen the play for my birthday, and he was like "that's nice!" and signed the calendar's November page " To Mel, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! All best, Andrew Scott". He circled the 27th, and
pymparticles piped up with THAT'S NOT HER BIRTHDAY!, so he was really sweet and asked when my actual birthday was, and then circled that and drew a load of exclamation marks on it.
pymparticles talked to him about a film he'd just done in her native country too, and he got quite excited and adorable about it. Then we had a picture together and I sort of floated away gleefully after that.
SIGH SIGH CAN I JUST. I JUST WANT TO MARRY HIM. : (
We met up with
Gracefulstalker afterwards at Wagamama where we ate food and were merry, and as we were leaving the man sat next to us was talking to his friends about pissing himself accidentally. I caught his eye and said to him "hey, I'm not here to judge you," and had a bit of playful banter with him, which was fun because I love talking to strangers.
We all split up after that and
pymparticles and I bummed around St Pancras waiting for our delayed train and taking silly photos. We had a bit of a geek out on the train, too, which was fun and made us giggle a lot.
After I finally got home, I had to trek AAAAAAALL the way home in the snow which took about 45 minutes and I totally fell over in front of someone and it was so cold. I got home all giddy and happy and whacked my XD card into my laptop to take the photos off when DISASTER FUCKING STRUCK AS IT ALWAYS DOES.
My card had corrupted or something, and it wouldn't register in the camera (EVEN THOUGH IT WORKED FINE LESS THAN AN HOUR BEFORE), and in the laptop it kept saying to reformat the card. I started to panic and downloaded a photo recovery program, which told me the card had been wiped clean.
I won't lie-- I am very high strung (from my Scottish mother) and I totally started crying a bit because I was so, so gutted that I'd lost the photos.
I googled frantically and found a program called Testdisk. I downloaded it and muddled my way through it and, miracle of miracles, it recovered my pictures. I recommend it VERY STRONGLY- it looks a bit confusing to use but it saved photos that had been deleted from the card back in the summer, so it is fucking on the ball.
BUOYED BY MY TRIUMPH, I TURNED TO LJ TO UPDATE YOU ARE AND THAT IS WHERE WE ARE TODAY.
Lots of other things have happened but nothing that I really think needs updating about (or that I want to talk about heeeere, so).
