Planning weddings suck. I feel like I have nothing and everything to do.. and this is the little one. I know it really isn't all that bad. The park service called on Monday and let us know our request was being processed. They will call back when it has been approved for permit pick-up. The flowers are ordered for my bouquet and Miss Kendall's flower-girl basket. Only cost us $60 total. Hooray for being smart and using local orchids and Taiwan freesia. Heh.
No one has RSVP'd yet, though their deadline is the 6th. I know most will be coming, but I need an official head count for the reception so I can give the MWR Rec N Crew office the correct amount of tables and chairs we will be renting. And the MWR does not carry the Pugil Stick inflatable, which made Randall very sad, since it was one thing he was really looking forward to having. So now we have to search on island for the company who does rent it and hope they don't charge more than an arm and a leg for it, because we will have no first-borns to provide.
Over all though I am getting excited. I am not an average girly-girl, though I do love wearing skirts and boots. I never really planned my dream wedding. Which is good. Heh. Because being married to Captain America would have blown those right out of the water. That goodness my scheme for the big wedding is Navy themed more than the island one.
Island wedding - Colors -silver and purple. At a war memorial, that happens to be beside a beach. I will wear a purple, green and silver sun dress and he a gray shirt and black slacks. Our one attendant is a flower girl/ring bearer. We wrote our own vows. Afterward a 4th of July style reception. Potluck food, with us providing a main course, salad and dessert in case no one brings food. Wedding favors are a small red, white or blue flowering plant that I grew and a bag full of sparklers, little American flags and other celebratory goodies. Our rings are matching tungsten-carbide. Heavy rings!! But very nice.
Pennsylvania wedding - Yes, planning it already. It will be easier to deal with if we plan now and take care of it then. Our Duty change over time period is open at the moment, depending on how fast he can achieve Chief, so we have to be ready for departure from here any time from November til December 2008. Colors - Blue and silver (gray). We are not sure if it will be an outdoor wedding or indoor yet. But we will be having the traditional Cutlass/Saber service with Navy Chiefs and Marines in attendance and making an arch of swords for us to leave under. We would like to have ice cream cake as our wedding cake. We thought it was a fresh and fun idea. Obviously offered in various flavors. The female attendants will all be wearing blue or silver dresses of various shades. Preferably along a medieval style. My dress will also be medieval-ish. I have what I want in mind and I know Erica volunteered to make it once upon a time. If she is busy or can not make what I would like, I have a few dresses on 'reserve' that I can purchase instead. The male attendants will be in military uniform or black suits if they are not military. I even have the flowers for the bouquets picked out and we have vows written for it now as well.
*takes a breath* But I feel unprepared. I suppose that can be normal. I just want everyone to have a good time. The wedding is really for them. Heh. If it were up to me, we would have had a JOP ceremony. Tonight is the usual Friday night Chinese food date night. Tomorrow we hit up KMart, Ben Franklin and various party shops to buy our reception items. 2 weeks, 1 day.. very soon I will be Mrs. Randall Zenonian. YAY!!
