The poop deck is located at the back of the ship...in detail a poop deck is a deck that constitutes the roof of a poop cabin built in the aft (rear) part of the superstructure of a ship. The name originates from the Latin puppis, or the elevated stern deck. In sailing ships, with the steerage at the stern, an elevated position was ideal for both navigation and observation of the crew.

Grog is made of half pint of rum mixed with one quart of water.  Before grog was introduced stagnant water was sweetened with beer or wine to make it palatable which involved more casks and was subject to spoilage.  Modern versions of the grog sometimes include lemon juice, lime juice, cinnamon or sugar to improve the taste. Rum with water, sugar and nutmeg was known as Bumboo and was more popular with pirates and merchantmen.  Bumboo was popular in the Caribbean during the era of piracy, largely because it tasted better than British Navy Grog.
"There now, drink up. Finest bumboo in the whole Caribbean." - Captain Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean
