I loved the image you created in the first paragraph of the two such contrasting personalities of Jack and Ennis "As Ennis alternated between studying the ornate metal ceiling and his boot toes, Jack rummaged through racks of shirts, pulling some out and rejecting them until at last he found one he liked, in soft warm butterscotch and with a cream fringe.".
I smiled at the part where Jack does not tell Ennis that the colour of the shirt "drew out the gold flecks in his beloved's eyes, that those untidy greying locks looked like sun-blessed meadows, that his weathered face glowed with an inner light..."
I really felt for Jack trying to tell Rob about him and Ennis and I thought Rob's response showing his pain, confusion and all his mixed boyish feelings was very well written.
Lureen's words to Ennis were harsh but I admire her for being so frank and not backing down to Ennis.
Alma giving Ennis two pieces of wedding cake was such a good touch. You have not shied away from showing just how badly Jack and Ennis hurt their wives and you show them as good women, both so different but I like them both.
Using "Jack, I swear" during the wedding ceremony was brilliant.
Another perfect chapter.
Thank you
Lorna
