You touched me deeply with this chapter, it has been a real rollercoaster ride!!
First the wonderful christmas with the whole family, Jack and Ennis being able to spend the holidays with all their children, even it has been a little awkward, then the news of Junior getting married and the ranch finally running smoothly, allowing them to spend a day with riding and enjoying this life they always dreamt of. I always feared something bad might happen again to bring trouble into their paradise and now here it is in form of OMT finding out about their the true nature of their relationship and throwing them out as reaction.
But even though I´m sad to see they have to leave Lightning Flat and poor Sybil behind, it´s wonderful to watch how deep, solid and strong their relationship has become, writing this simple yet moving letter to Bobby together and Ennis coming along with Jack to Childress.
And then going back to Brokeback and reliving all these memories, giving us an insight in what they thought, felt and feared 20 years ago (it amazes me to no end that after more than almost 2 1/2 years in this fandom and having read uncountable amounts of fanfiction you are still able to give me new and fresh interpretations of their behaviour like the scene where Jack kisses Ennis during their coupling) and confessing little secrets they never opened up about before.
Thank you so much for sharing this outstanding story, for me your writing is such a unique mix between poetic images, vivid and real description of the hard ranch life, a deeply moving love story and one of the most heartfelt and sensitive alternative endings to the original story and their characters,
have a good start into the week,
Claudia
