Homy-ness

I was reading a Bento Blog the other day about how this gal had this spill in her fridge and since she had to clean most of it, she just dragged everything out of her fridge and cleaned the whole damn thing.  Her friend came over and laughingly commented that you could tell this gal and her husband were on a 'eat healthy craze' from the food taken from the fridge.  And thus, I wondered: What does our fridge say about us?

So I looked.

...

It's wasn't pretty. >.<

Lol, it looked like it was a single, collage guys fridge (or my mental picture of one).  I mean, the entire bottom shelf is nothing but Ben's pop!  There was hardly anything that was healthy (carrot sticks and sandwich stuff), tons of Hot Pocket in the freezer...  It was bad.  *sighs*

*perks up* But then we went shopping on Tuesday.  And I fixed that.  *grins* Now, not only is there real food (meat, veggies, ect.) there are actual (gasp, shock!) fresh fruit!  Well, just a couple apricots and oranges, but still...  Also stocked up on frozen and canned veggies and fruit.  Or raspberries, since that was the only frozen fruit we got.
  Mmmm, raspberries...

Actually I've already used some of them.  I made scones.  *beams*  Yes, you heard right, I baked raspberry scones!  It was really easy, actually, since it uses Bisquick instead of flour and all that jazz.  Ben likes them so it's a hit.  Here's the recipe.

Berry Scones

~ 3 c. Bisquick
~ 2 tbsp. sugar
~ 1 c. fresh or frozen any berries
~ 1/4 c. milk
~ 2 eggs

For Glaze:

~ 1 egg, well beaten
~ 2 tbsp. sugar

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In medium bowl combine the baking mix, 2 tablespoons sugar and blueberries. Pour milk in measuring cup. Add the eggs to the milk and beat with a fork until well mixed. Stir liquid into baking mix until moistened. (Dough will be crumbly.)

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and pat into a 9 inch round, about 1/2 inch thick pan. Brush the dough with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar. Cut the round into 12 wedges. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden. Serve immediately with butter or jam.

Mmmmm...  And they are quite yummy.  And I didn't use the glaze, I just sprinkled with tops with sugar and they were fine.  So, now that I actually have real, honest-to-God-semi-healthy food, let's see what I can come up with for dinner...  *evil grin*
