Clowns, cute washboard players, and lots and lots of techno....

So the Autonomous Mutant Fest has come and gone for another year. I am happy to say that I got to reconnect with some of my favourite people. Most people there I hadn't seen in 4/5 years! It was great seeing them again and in some cases, clowning with them again.

So ok, here we go with the clowns: I must say, I fucking love Ludwig. He is the most fun person to clown with, and I love doing art with him. We both walked away from our act going: "God damn, we gotta do that again!" Not to mention, he's great at the klown fu (I, of course, am amazing.) I not only got to put together a skit about a mime scabbing and the union (red) card holding clowns dropping an anvil on the scab/mime, but I also got to MC part of the night, even though those 2 pesky other clowns kept trying to keep me from announcing the other acts. (i.e. clown mayhem and lots of oversize hammers and boxing gloves on sticks, etc...) *sigh* Miss Claire was in our act too, she's another female clown and am I happy to meet other female clowns. Most circuses do this thing where they're like: "Look how sexy our ladies are," but as clowns we're obviously not trying to be sexy, but just be funny and have fun and everyone I talked to said that that's way more sexy then the people who are trying to be sexy, so therefore I win the circus. End of discussion, I win. I was talking with some of the Pedal Play people in VanCan about doing performances. Maybe they'd like to start a bike circus...hehehehe. I certainly do.

Cute washboard players: Well, excluding myself I only really noticed one other: Bobby. He's such a cutie. We caused mayhem together and scared a few people without flashlights by jumping out at them in the dark and yelling. hehehe....that's my kind of washboard player. Oh, and also he was part of a group mostly comprised of Hobogoblins I met up with at some obscene hour of (technically Tuesday) morning. It was right before it started to get light, maybe 4ish? We went and played at the Flowershop area and the DJ was a total asshole, telling us to fuck off and going "I can't hear you." Jerkfacehead. (We were comprised of an accordian player, a jug player, about 4 or 5 washboards, and a bunch of loud people who like to sing.) I then proceeded to lead everyone onto the Circo Mutante bus (b/c they were being poo poo heads and not clowning with me, but instead sleeping! AT Mutant Fest! Can you believe that?) We quietly snuck on board (well, as quietly as 10-12 people can), counted to 4, screamed ALL ABOARD! at the top of our lungs and proceeded to play music while jumping up and down on the bus and singing. The Mutante folks pretended to be asleep, and we made a quick getaway out the rear escape hatch. Dylan, one of the Hobogoblins and our accordianist yelled back into the bus "This wake up call has been brough to you courtesy of the SPAZ eviction (long story, to be told another time-let's just say the circus made a lot of people unhappy.)" When we got to the road all the lights were on in the bus and we knew that our mission (ok, really my mission, but everyone else had fun too) had been successful and we paraded back down the road to play more music. I still blame the cute washboard player for the sand I keep finding in all my AMF stuff.

Techno......So as, can be expected at AMF, it was everywhere, well thankfully, Almost. Hehehe...Katabatick hosted a whole slew of metal band nights, and they had the Bottle of the Bands....seeing which Jug band could play best while most drunk. I don't know who won, I stumbled off pretty damn drunk, but only Kit's band was playing at the end of it, so I assume that they were the winners. (I don't know their name, I know they're from Eugene) I loved that there were so many jug bands. Circus camp was lame and definitely missing a lot of circus, although I did spend most my time at the Circus Midway, there was no stilt soccer or random clowning which made me sad. I was camped by Tea Camp, and to exemplify the music coming out of Tea Camp I can say that one morning(ish) I woke up to "Golden Afternoon" from Alice in Wonderland being played. *sigh* So nice, and funny. They'd play Depeche Mode, and all sorts of other better then Techno stuff.

Unfortunately I have to go, but stay tuned for more repot backs from me.....I know I'm forgetting a lot.
