Summary: in hawaii kate is on vacation and jack is teaching her too surf. I suck at summaries please read and review?!
Jack/Kate

The waves crashed into the soft white sand of Oahu Beach. The sun’s rays kissed the horizon as it slowly rose. Jack Shephard inhaled the smell of tropical flowers as his board shorts whipped around his legs in the breeze.  He plucked the surf board out of the sand and paddled into the break. A wave came quickly behind him and he popped to his feet. The board slid easily out of the wave under his feet. After catching a few more waves he paddled back to the beach. After roughly frying his soaked body he hopped into his forest green Jeep and sped towards “Claire’s”, the café his half-sister owned across town.

Kate Austen sipped the coffee cautiously and pulled the brown, straw cowboy hat off her head. The blonde woman behind the counter, her name tag said Claire, spoke with a thick Australian accent. The bell chimed as the front door swung open.
A tall Arabic looking man walked in and took a seat next to Kate at the bar.
“Hello Claire. How are you this morning?” He asked kindly as she sat coffee in front of him along with sugar and cream.
    “I’m fine Sayid. And yourself?”
“Wonderful.” He gave her a toothy grin. The door chimed again and a blonde man with a larger, curly haired man entered.
“Aloha!” The blonde greeted in an Australian accent as well.
“Hey, Charlie. Hurley.” Claire smiled. She kissed the blonde man, Charlie. Kate noticed they both had wedding rings on. She also noticed the small blonde boy holding onto Charlie’s hand.
“Good morning, Mommy!” The boy chirped. Claire kissed his forehead and ruffled his hair.
“Hi, Aaron.” A man with blonde, long hair sat quietly two seats down from Kate. “Can I get you another coffee Sawyer?” Claire asked.
“That’d be great, Sweetheart.” The man said. He had a thick southern drawl that Kate found oddly familiar. The bell chimed once again. She turned to face a man about six-two with brown hair and a scruffy unshaven face. He had fiery hazel eyes and a warm smile.
“Hey, Doc.” Sawyer grinned. The man waved and returned the smile.
“Good to see you Jack.” Claire smiled. “Haven’t seen my own brother in two weeks.” She chuckled. Jack kissed her cheek.
“Sorry Claire. I told you guys I had a conference in New York.” He laughed, straddling the stool next to Kate. He turned to face her slowly and smiled. “Now who is this?”
    “One of my customers Jack.”
“I’m Kate.” She grinned shyly and shook his outstretched hand.
“Jack Shephard. I’m Claire’s brother.” He hooked a thumb in Claire’s direction. “Sawyer, we still on for the break at three?”
“Hell yeah! Biggest break of the season so far I heard. “The men high fived over Kate’s head.
    “Oh, you’re surfers?”
“Well, actually I’m a doctor, but yes I surf.” Jack chuckled.
    “I’ve always wanted to learn.”
    “Why haven’t you?”
“No time. I’ve been too busy.”
“Well, maybe while you’re here you can come out and I’ll teach you.” Jack winked, scribbling his cell number on a napkin.
“I’ll have to keep that in mind, Jack.” She grinned as she set some money on the table and left. Jack watched her speed away in a dark blue BMW.

“You think she’ll call?” Jack asked Sawyer, scooting into the seat next to him.
“Sure. She was checkin’ you out and not even trying to hide it.” Sawyer chuckled, nudging his best friend in the ribs. Jack laughed softly at his own insecurities.
“Yeah, I guess.” He muttered, secretly hoping that she would call. Suddenly his pager was yelping up at him, the hospital. “Damn.”

The hospital smelled like antiseptic and cheap flowers.
“Good to see you Doctor Shephard.” Greeted a cheerful, red-haired nurse in turquoise scrubs.
“Hey Karen. Who needs me now?” Jack sighed, shrugging into his white lab coat.
    “Doctor Burke.” Karen smiled ruefully.
“Ugh, of course she does. Anything to be a pain in my ass, right?” He laughed quietly as he attached his beeper to his scrub pants.
“OR one, Doctor Shephard.” He nodded and headed down the hallway. His phone vibrated loudly in his pocket.
    “Hello?”
“Hey Doc, it’s me. Listen, I can’t make the break today. I’ve got this thing with this girl.” Sawyer’s drawl came smoothly into his ear.
“Yeah, Juliet called me in anyway. I’ll be here until six or seven anyway.” A beep came over the line. “Hold on Sawyer. I’ve got another call. I’ll talk to you later.” He said. “Hello?”
“Hey Jack. It’s Kate. Does that offer still stand?” Her voice was soft and mellow.
“Hey Kate. I’ve got surgery until seven but if you’re willing to go tonight I’m all for it.”
“Night surfing? Is that safe?” She asked warily.
“Yeah, I’ll protect you, don’t worry.” He laughed gently. “So tonight? Say eight o’clock at your hotel?”
“Yes. I’m staying at the hotel next to your sister’s café. I’ll see you at eight.” She said sweetly.
“Eight o’clock. Bye Kate.” He clapped the phone shut and pushed the double doors open to the operating room. His radiant smile faded the moment he entered the scrub room.
“Hello Jack.” Juliet Burke smiled gently at him as she pulled her blonde hair back.
“Juliet.” Jack growled in reply to his ex-wife as he tied the face mask over his mouth…
