I thought my fridge was inexplicably whiffy, but it turns out that my freezer had spontaneously defrosted itself. Again. It's now emptied and cleaned, and I think it's time to stop using it altogether because it's so unreliable. Fortunately, it's fairly small and mostly just had emergency frozen veg and fishcakes in it. And ice cream. That's actually the most annoying thing - I'd managed to get a nice big box of Magnums on offer a little while back, and the box was still almost full! They're really not very appetizing once they've been reduced to packets of mush-with-sticks and sat there for goodness knows how long. :'(
The whole fridge-freezer combo's actually been sickly for a few years now - knocked out by the same power cut that blew the surge-protector on my computer, but I never imagined I'd need one on the fridge too! It's a Bosch - which is a bit like having a Volvo. They're supposed to be ultra-reliable, but if they ever do need fixing the necessary parts are all specialist rather than standard - extra expensive, and hard to get hold of. And this fridge has been nothing but trouble, so I'd really prefer to replace it now (with almost anything but Bosch), but it's a narrow 3/4 height model and the only ones I can find to fit the space are also Bosch and even less attractive than the one I've currently got, so I keep giving up....
Frozen food's overrated anyway.
