I wanted to post this on the switch witch thread at bpal.org but didn't want to stray too far off topic so I'll write it here and linky.
Someone asked a question about what is "our song" and actually the hubby and I don't have *a* song. There are several that make us feel all romantical, "Nights in White Satin" and "In Your Eyes" are the two that come to mind, both of which make us slightly misty-eyed when they come on the radio.
The story I wanted to relay was somewhat related to that, but happened before I met my husband. I was dating a drama major in college who was quite a flamboyant and spontaneous character. He also learned most of his dance moves from the "David Byrne School of Dramatic Flailing". We both loved Soft Cell and would always dance to "Tainted Love" whenever it came on at a club. We even won a dance contest at my high school's Homecoming dancing to that song. We probably looked like idiots :-P . Many years later I heard from a dear high school friend of mine who had been out of touch for some time. He had met that boyfriend of mine while I was in college because we all spent a lot of time together. Anyway, old high school friend J had since come out of the closet and we were talking late into the night when he told me that he'd met my old boyfriend in a bar in Atlanta, they were chatting each other up, flirting and discussing each other's roots when they realized they'd met while the ex-bf and I were in college. So... many years after breaking up with the boyfriend , said boyfriend was trying to pick up one of my best high school friends in a bar nowhere near where any of us grew up. We decided then and there that having "Tainted Love" as our song should have told me something long ago. How's that for silly serendipity?
