So Julchen and Roderich have been dating for 18 months now. It doesn't really seem like it's been that long, or maybe that's a short amount of time after all, but Julchen's changed so much in that time- for better or for worse. When they first met she had adamantly explained to him that she wasn't Gilbert, and that her relationship with Lieselotte ( Read more... )

Heheh she knew they talked about her! Though it's probably best she doesn't know for certain, or even know the details, because she likes the illusion of plausible deniability. She may not be as prudish as she was in the past but she's still easily embarrassed when it comes to sex, especially sex she's not supposed to be having. Lots of Catholic guilt in her for a Protestant.

It doesn't take much wandering around to for her to realize that Lieselotte and her mysterious guest must be in the drawing room, but she does waver for a minute over her entrance. What if it's her boss or some other government person is in there? She hates getting lectures from West about being polite in front of their most loyal ally- she's pretty sure she could pants Austria's boss and it would have no effect on Austro-German relations okay.

She's a brat at heart after all, and in true bratty fashion she just barges in. "KESESESESESE!! HEY LAZY ARISTOCRAT! ENTERTAIN THE AWESOME M-"

Before she can even get the last word out of her mouth she realizes who the guest is. Well. That was not quite as expected. Shit.

"The...The hell are you doing here!?"

The actual Catholics of this group have no problem whatsoever discussing every last filthy detail.

Oh no, Lottie would never have someone like that at her house for precisely that reason. That, and she doesn't want important people going to use the bathroom and finding her underwear strewn everywhere.

Lottie is just pouring herself some more tea when Julchen barges in; only an iron grip on her sense of pride (and her teapot) prevent a spill, and she whips around to stare at the intruder. Damn it all, this isn't her usual day...!

Meanwhile Roderich, after a moment of disorientation, recovers himself enough to reply. 'I might ask you the same thing. Good afternoon.'

Because the actual Catholics were never subjected to nunneries, it's like Catholic school times a thousand. Luckily her desire for fun tends to win over her nerves. Usually.

Julchen is still stumbling a bit from shock herself. This is not normal at all and just like last time she finds herself torn over how she's supposed to act; there's a distinct difference in meanness level when she's teasing Roderich to when she's teasing Lottie!

"I'm just being neighborly! So there!!"

If she's mean in front of Roderich she'll get a talking to...

Roderich shrugs indifferently, taking over the task of pouring Lottie's tea before anyone has a mishap. Despite his calm, he's never quite at ease when all three of them are in a room. Except perhaps when he and Lieselotte have the upper hand.

'You might have called first,' Lottie snipes, crossing her arms. She recognises Julchen's discomfort with the unexpected extra, and it pleases her. Perhaps she'll go away quicker...

She'll try not to be too mean since bicker is as mean as she can manage with him anymore, but sometimes Lottie just brings it out of her.

Like with that tone just now! She's still a little uncomfortable, but her pride is too high for her to just leave; once again Roderich is proving how unobservant he is, any time all three of them are together the Austrias have the upper hand. But she still walks up to Lottie when she snipes at her, she's here to stay so it wouldn't be awesome to just fidget awkwardly in the entrance all day.

"Calling first is for losers, you should just always be ready to entertain me."

Julchen brings that upon herself with her antics.

'I am already entertaining, as you can see.' She indicates Roderich, huffing a little in indignance; her nice peaceful afternoon, gone. She looks at him, appealing for his input, and he complies with reluctance.

'Will you be joining us, Julia?' He gestures to a chair, attempting to salvage the situation in as amiable a manner as possible, though he too is forseeing disaster. He'd chide her for being rude, but that would just bring it on all the faster.

She was about to tell Lottie that she's more important than Roderich, because she's five and demands attention at all time, but luckily he speaks before she gets the chance.

"I guess I have no choice now." She plops herself down in the chair all dramatically, as if she's the one being put out by this because really she is. But she also scoots her chair a little bit closer to Roderich too.

....Lottie looks a bit scary right now.

Lottie is sipping her tea in a very...sinister way, it's true. But she's calm enough to put up with this indignity, as long as Julchen doesn't start anything.

Roderich, meanwhile, is already setting a spare cup in front of her. Yes, yes, she doesn't care for tea, but whatever.

'I am sure Liesel would like to offer you refreshments.' He glances at his hostess, who nods, indicating the little snacks set on the table.

Julchen is behaving! And she doesn't mind tea, just as a force of habit only really drinks it when she's around people like the Austrias who insist on it; she indifferent, just like with coffee.

But she'll take her cup anyway and sip at it in between noming snacks. Offering her food is the best way to get a complicit Prussia after all. When she takes a minute to breathe after stuffing her face she peeks curiously between them. "So what's up?"

While she snacks enough to feel a bit more agreeable, the others exchange glances; Lieselotte just shrugs, resigned to entertaining her now. It's an awkward situation; they obviously both enjoy her company- after a fashion, on a good day- but it's usually a solo affair.

'Hm?' Drawn out of her thoughts by Julchen's question, she remembers her hostessing skills. 'We were discussing some matters of business...quite dry talk, I must say.'

"That's boring. The cool me came here to get away from business." She pouts, nibbling on some more snacks as she thinks.

She's more observant than people give her credit for, and she senses some manner of telepathic communication is going on between them, but she also senses it's probably best not to demand all of their attention. Surprisingly enough though her mild jealously isn't because of that but because she and Gilbert can't really do the same; they're too different.

It's a strange thing; they do have differences, but their personalities lend themselves well to silent communication in any case. Perhaps it's not Gilbert and Julia's differences so much as Prussia's lack of subtlety...

'There's nothing more to say on the matter, so you need not be concerned,' Roderich replies, leaning back in his chair. 'Liesel, did you happen to catch the London Philharmonic doing The Bride of Messina recently, I thought it was quite avant garde...'

They begin a lively discourse on the topic, each reasoning that it's better to carry on as they were than drop everything to attend to Julchen. She should get a good idea of their secret tea parties from this.

No way it's entirely because of a failing on Gilbert's part because she is obviously so totally capable of subtlety how dare you.

Julchen seems placated thanks to Roderich's response and she busies herself with more snacks for a while, but as they continue their lively discussion about boring music crap she can't help but get the distinct impression she's being ignored. This isn't the part of their secret tea parties she wanted to see.

Full for now she sits back in her chair and huffs. And then fidgets and changes positions and huffs again. And then shifts again because she's bored and why are they ignoring her! Clearly they've forgotten how terribly fussy she gets when she's ignored. Since he's closer and easier to manipulate she reaches over to pull on Roderich's Mariazell and makes puppy eyes at him.

Of course.

They're not ignoring her, as such, just carrying on as they were; after all, they're not used to dealing with her together. What are they supposed to say?

Obviously that tug gets his attention, and he peers down at her, looking quizzical.

'What is it...?'

Of course, while he's dealing with her, Lieselotte looks on, a strange expression on her face. She's mildly annoyed to be interrupted and have her conversation partner distracted, but a part of her is...indignant to see a situation she's so familiar with play out without her...

The revelation that she might be a little bit jealous is quite a shock to her.

If they're not giving her attention then they're ignoring her and that makes for a fussy Julchen!

"Talk about something else." Hopefully Roderich is astute enough to figure out that she's feeling neglected because she's not going to come right out and say as much. The last time she got all fussy about him ignoring her, he teased her, and she's pretty certain it'd happen in stereo if this time if she were upfront.

Of course, Julchen is not as astute as she's anticipating the Austrias to be so she has no idea what's going on with Lottie over there. But she's always happy to indulge in Mariazell pulling if she'd like her too, kesesese!

Roderich glances to Lieselotte; he is pretty quick on the uptake about Julchen's attention seeking ways, and he's quite sure Lottie knows without having to be told.

Lottie nods, sighing. 'Do you have any particular topic to contribute, Preußen?'

It's a disgrace to have to cater to her this way, honestly. Even worse is the fact that she's willing to, instead of just throwing her out...
