Trees Chopped down

Jan 17, 2008 09:02

Today while on the way to the office I was in for a rude shock. Big trees on the St. John's road were being chopped down. The only good thing I noticed was the smaller ones were probably due to being transported else where. But where is that *else where* ?

The trees were chopped down to widen the road.

In Sep a huge tree which used to provide shade to our house for over 50 years was chopped overnight on the behest of a Travels Owner. We were not even aware that something like this was supposed to happen. After unusually spending the previous night at my brother's place, we were in for a rude shock the next morning. These sights greeted us.

There is no shade now and the temp in our house has increased by atleast 3-4 degrees and it is very bright.

Just imagine:

One Tree Chopped = 3-4 degrees raise in temperature. What would happen if 100 of trees around Nanda road and other roads get chopped...indeed a serious thought to ponder over...

save trees, st. john, trees
