Keith's uncle visited us last week. We dropped him off at the airport last night. Nice guy, but I'm not all that sorry he's gone. Keith used to be fairly close to him, but hasn't seen him in at least 19 years, and I'd only met him once, and don't remember it. He's 66, kind of at a cross-roads in life, and I guess decided to try and re-connect with Keith, so through Keith's mother, asked if he could come see us. Of course, we said yes, because we pretty much maintain an open house for family and friends, so he came down for a week.
Like I said, he's a nice guy, and Keith had a great time visiting with him, but neither the kids or I really connected with him that well. He's been married and divorce three times, and is currently very much in search of wife number four, and therefore has a bit of a skeevy old-guy-on-the-make aura about him sometimes. He and Austin went to Hooters for lunch one day when Keith and I were at work, at trip that Austin called "incredibly awkward".
Ah well, like I said, he's nice enough, and does mean well, and genuinely cares about Keith, so I guess we can tolerate the occasional visit.
