friday i didn't do anything but make a colossal mess of my apartment. it was bad news.
saturday i was thinking we were doing romeo and juliet on the common but then john called me and threw the freedom trail out there and how could i resist? we ended up doing the free guided tour which is really freedom trail lite/diet freedom trail. you only go to a few sites, but i still liked it a lot. during this tour, we had to be taken through haymarket, at which point, john mentioned that some creepy creepy guy tried to make a grab for my ass ("ok, and why DIDN'T you destroy him?" "it was too late, i didn't notice what had happened until a moment later and then he was gone"), thus leaving me really paranoid all day about things/people brushing up against me. at the end of the tour in the paul revere mall we decided to keep going and hit up old north church and copps hill before continuing over the bridge to charlestown. only went on to bunker hill from there. so, you can actually climb up into the bunker hill oblisk but it's 294 steps. oh god. it wasn't so daunting by 150 but those last 94 steps are hell. and then the top, when you can look outside? the windows were shut. you climbed all the way up there to sit in an oven. ok, so we walked back to the north end, chilled out in caffe dello sport (i just like their name), bought the "italia" shirt i'd been craving all day. went shopping in downtown crossing and then dinner at parish cafe, which i'd been wanting to try for awhile. very good, i def recommend it. and then we saw "charlie and the chocolate factory" which is pretty weird.
sunday i think i slept forever until i finally called nid and complained of my boredom, so i went over there and there was ice cream and movies and much laughing at scientologists. they're so much fun. -ps, i got the book, nid.
my mom called me this morning at 9 am (aksdfhaisdfhdswe) to first ask if i need an iron (no) and to secondly say she doesn't really know when they're coming here. i talked to matt on sunday and he said that they wanted to come up to see wpi on tuesday (half of the purpose of this trip is to bring my brother to colleges, the other is to visit me) and then come into the city and stay here through wednesday, my day off. of course, i didn't know this plan at all and had already started to make plans w/ nid and heather. but that got switched to thursday now and i increased the pressure on my mom to sort this out already (it's my dad's and brother's fault, according to her...why do i always have to have everything set in stone and my parents can play around until the last minute and drive me crazy?). if that's what happens though, i'll have a nice week ahead.
i need to add on my frustration with cnn (and the world) today. not only was john "runs down the hall throwing phones" bolton appointed to the UN today but i watched the worst segment on how "terror" is being fought in britain. firstly, it seems the common brit is not living in a world of fear and could care less about "survival kits", huzzah to them. but then there're these jokes that are trying to recommend different safety methods to them for instance this one:
by putting a plastic bag over your head and then securing it with a rubber band, you can be safe for 15 minutes from a gas or chemical attack.
i am not kidding, the guy actually did it. let the child/bag suffocation rate skyrocket!
