...in the new 'dandy'


this episode was based on actual lesson from a brief spell i had as a teacher in the 1990s. in fact, quite a lot of the strip is based on that spell -- you can perhaps see why it was so brief...

it's a great issue -- among others an excellent bananaman from wayne thompson (with a guest appearance from bully beef and chips), another fine george vs dragon by andy fanton, and some particularly great stuff from jamie smart -- in fact i was moved to pull out a brush and have a go at drawing jamie-style -- so here's my interpretation of jamie's interpretation of desperate dan:



while i was in the mood i also made a very quick little sketch of another classic dc thomson character:


it'd be great fun to do a little comic about the above, in this style, but dc thomson's lawyers might not be so keen.

all in all, if you haven't checked out the new 'dandy' yet, this would be a great issue to jump in at -- so please consider getting a copy for your kids/grandkids/yourself/your dog -- this classic british title needs support!
