Last weekend Changki, his family and I went to the east coast. We had a hell of a time; it reminded me once again of how fortunate I've been to make such delightful, improbable friendships. Changki and I have been friends since early March when we met atop Dobongsan. Through him, I have seen things I wouldn't have otherwise seen, eaten things I wouldn't have eaten, and come to enjoy a sense of belonging in the unlikeliest place.
Yesterday was Changki's birthday (pictured middle). He probably won't read this entry, but he already knows he's the older Korean brother I never had. My "hyung."
