Defense Secretary James N. Mattis hosted an enhanced honor cordon welcoming Lithuanian Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis to the Pentagon for a meeting. Chief Pentagon spokesperson Dana W. White said the two leaders reaffirmed the defense relationship between their nations.
They discussed implementing key NATO summit outcomes and cooperating on regional security issues such as cyber and other hybrid threats, and they agreed to continue deterring Russian malign activities and increasing U.S.-Lithuanian interoperable capabilities. Mattis thanked Karoblis for Lithuania’s increased support for NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan.
