(no subject)

I have just spent an hour and a half trying to get my Internet working.  =\  This is ridiculous for a school and I have no idea who I need to call to get our WiFi wiring or whatever improved.  Well, rundown of how fall semester is looking.

Cancer Cell Biology:
aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That is all.
OK, well, honestly.  This class terrifies me.  It's a combination graduate/undergraduate course and since we're already taking it anyway, we might as well get everything that we can out of it at a graduate level hoorah!   This consists of us teaching the class to each other and the professors sitting on the side and interrupting if we say something wrong.  Which will be often.  Either that or we won't be allowed to say anything wrong at all at risk of getting slammed, which is more likely.  I thought I would enjoy the class because of the subject matter, but honestly.  This is not a good way to teach a course.  I am all for innovation but this is just not a good idea I don't care how interesting it seems on paper.

Biostatistics:
This class seems fine.  The professor spent the first half hour going over his life story and calmly explaining how much he loves swamps.  He seems to be a nice guy.  I have no idea how the material will be.  It seems terribly easy, but I imagine it must get harder at some point, perhaps integrating calculus of some sort.  I really have no idea.  I have so many friends from all spheres of my college life in this class it's not even funny.

Advanced Cell Biology:
I think I like this course!  It was the one I was dreading the most before classes began, but our teacher is an energetic woman who seems enthusiastic about her work, but most importantly, her voice keeps attention well and she speaks English perfectly.  The first lecture consisted of a great deal of review, but that was to be expected.  The material will be extremely in-depth and I expect to learn a lot that will be relevant to my future career, since this may be another Culminating Experience like Cancer Biology.  I don't actually have any close friends in this class, but there's one acquaintance whom I hope to get to know better.

Human Sexuality:
This class made me extremely uncomfortable.  I went in expecting pictures of naked people, yes, and possibly pictures of people having sex.  That would have been reasonable, and the material could have been discussed in a clinical, detached manner as expected of an institution.  Fifty to sixty slides of graphic pornography shown for an hour including fellatio, cunnilingus, orgasm, anal sex, and bestiality shown for no reason other than shock value and to 'promote discussion' was not appropriate at all.  I have no words.  There was no warning of this anywhere in the course description.  I am thinking about dropping this, but I expect the professor just thought he would be clever to show this on the first day of class and the rest of the time will be spent actually discussing the material that I want to learn about in a classroom appropriate manner.  If this turns out not to be the case, I will drop.

Creative Writing Nonfiction:
What can I say?  I love to write.  The professor is awesome.  This almost made up for the two hours of crap preceding (see above) and I expect to be able to get some good advice on my personal statement and essays when it comes time for it.
