Thoughts: Commentary on Marks

Average mark of 65.75 for this semester. That's a fall from last semester, which was 69, but more or less what I got on average last year. Guess that pretty much says the 2.1 result is fair. Whilst I've gotten a few rather high marks, I also tend to get some low ones as well, and it's only just that I get the average.

Somewhat disappointed with my dissertation being only a 2.1 though; would have a lot to me if I could at least have ended the degree with a 1st in my dissertation even if I couldn't get one for the degree as a whole, but that's life I guess; not always going to get exactly what I want.

Was a little bit of a gamble anyway, and I knew that. My dissertation tutor wasn't keen on the subject I'd chosen and my treatment of it, but in my usual cocky way I went ahead and wrote about what I wanted to write in the way I wanted to, which a few times has given me some rather low marks :o)

Yet it seemed to work out with my Imagination and Self-Conciousness exam;, although that one rather surprised me, and I did double check that I'd read it right when I got the paper with my marks on it.

When I got out of that exam I felt I was on rather dodgy ground with what I wrote (lj linky), but fortunately an essay on Immanuel Kant once again paid off for me. :o)

Kierkegaard is lower than I'd like, as I quite enjoyed the essay, but I guess it was a 2.1, and that's the main thing.

Still got to go into university to get hold of a copy of my marked dissertation with comments, so I can read through what they actually thought of it, see where they felt I went wrong et cetera. Guess it doesn't mean much anymore (it's all a bit academic... ha...), but I'd like to know :o)

Am now off to Slimelight for drinks and dancing... hope everyone is well :o)
