Well, there's some evidence they do in the Whoverse anyway.
I'd disregard the carrionites given that it was a singular episode (and not one of Moffats) but Moffat has been amping up the importance of The Doctor's name, so there's presumably something in it.
Exactly what form that will take I'm not sure though. I'd hope for something more sophisticated than the Shakespeare episode in any case; that was okay for a one-off episode but if we're going to have a story arch that's gone on this long (since Silence in the Library really) then I want something a bit more.
