I am a Batman fan.

As in, pretty much all forms of Batman, except for George Clooney. I'm not big into Christian Bale (squicks me out and makes me think of Tom Cruise, for some reason), but those Batman versions were enjoyable enough. Michael Keaton, though, for ME personally, had just the right edge of "very nearly psychotic" that I think Batman ( Read more... )

Also a Batman fan here, but utterly tired of Batman's origin story being told again... and again... and again... (and every super hero's, come to think of it).

The Brave and the Bold is all about crossovers though. Batman meets hero X and fights alongside him or her. That's what the original comic is like. I think the first season eps were a bit less weird -- Batman has to listen to Aquaman pontificate; Batman argues with Green Arrow all the time; quite good fun really. But when they team him up with some of these oddball teams, he really gets overshadowed. (Also, I got really tired of the Blue Beetle. Whiny TEENAGE angsty superhero.)

But hey. The Phantom Lady. She is not what we as modern women would think of as a superhero, but she was invented in the 1940s. She is LIKE Batman, though, because neither of them have superpowers -- she uses a device to become invisible. She was originally more of a detective sort of person. Unfortunately, she was also pretty much a pinup girl, kind of an excuse to have a female comic character run around scantily clothed. But that's been a problem in comics forever. Superheroines are required to have a D cup or bigger, it's the law or something.

The Freedom Fighters, incidentally, used to fight on a planet run by Nazis. So they are usually in a sort of "pick your menace" set up.

But anyway. Yes, that was a really bad episode!! I will take Aquaman's Summer Vacation over than any day.
