How did this happen?
I've always said that I was a forty-year old man stuck in a twenty-something year old body. And I now have confirmation.
A family friend took me out to dinner. It was a nice evening of chatting amongst herself, her close friend, and little old me. There was fancy french food, as this restaurant required a jacket. Service was impeccable, and two and half hours flew by.
Two weeks later, a call from my mom, telling me she had spoken with our family friend. And, can you guess what our family friend mentioned to my mom as the standout quality she observed in spending time with me? It was, here it comes, how serious I am - how she and her friend, who had indeed enjoyed themselves, felt a little like children around a more serious adult. Role reversal indeed, as I am some twenty years younger...
So, there you have it. I make real forty-somethings feel young. Somehow that seems so very, very wrong. And I am left wondering, how did this happen?
