Im really happy with how things turned out and Im in a good place right now. I am in love with Jessica Yaxley. She is amazing and she means a lot to me. After school got out, Jess and I went up to Marquette(think Lake Superior) to stay the weekend with her aunt and go skiing. Things I learned on the trip up north...
-Its a loooong drive
-they have A LOT of snow
-they dont plow very well
-it's easier than you think to spin out and go into a snow bank(cuz we did, in case you didnt catch on)
-digging out of a 2-3 foot snow bank with a car scraper is a bitch
-all the times I stopped to help push cars finally paid off...thank god for the 2 guys who stopped to help
ok, back to the trip. Jess and I went to Marquette mountain(really big one in Marquette) with one of her cousins and her uncle. Her cousin was the only one who had been skiing before, so we went on the bunny hill a couple of times to learn how to ski. Then we went on their beginner course like 4 times, which I later found out is more difficult than most intermediate courses in the lower peninsula because of the length and amount of trees.
We were getting comfortable on the skis, so then we got daring and everyone but Jess tried the intermediate course. Her aunt told me to just go straight down...unfortunately, I took it literally. I did the skier crouch and started flying down the mountain. There were bumps and I was getting airborne which was an adrenaline rush. My butt touched the ground about half way down the mountain and I knew I was screwed. The next thing I knew I was flying throught the air and then sliding down the mountain head first on my back. I finally stopped sliding, let people know I was ok and took my bow. The chairlift gave me applause and some guy yelled "dude, that was fuckin awesome." I got up and my hat was about 30 feet up the mountain and I couldnt find my right ski. So I trudged up the mountain and found my ski pointing straight up in the snow about 20 feet away in the woods. Thinking about it, I was real lucky I didnt seriously hurt myself. In total, I ended up falling 4 or 5 times total and Jess fell about 5 times and almost hit a tree. So, needless to say, I like skiing and cant wait til I get to go again. Jess's family was really nice and the trip was an adventure.
Christmas
Christmas was good. All I really wanted was to have everybody healthy and be able to spend it with the people that I love and I got that. Im not gonna list presents cuz I think its kinda shallow. I will however say that Jess is in trouble for spending so much money on me. I got her pretty good on Christmas. I bought her a book, a bike helmet, and another gift. I took a small jewelry box and put it in a bigger one. I put that in a bigger box which went in a bigger box and finally inside the biggest box. Inside of the small jewelry box I put a candy necklace made of christmas colors (i restrung it). So she opened the 5 boxes to find a candy necklace. But on the bottom of the box I put "you should probably look under the bike helmet". Taped under the bike helmet was the jewelry box containing the peridot pendant on a necklace which I had got her. I think its pretty.
2005 Resolution
All of these 2005 Year In Review things made me look back at last year's New Year's Resolution to see if I did a good job or not.
-As far as doing better in classes...yes I had tough classes second semester, but I was stupid about studying...so I have no excuse. But this semester I got a 3.37 which I was pretty happy with.
-Did good with the working out/running more which shows.
-As far as girls...I finally broke out of my shell. I have more self confidence and Im not extremely shy around girls like I used to be.
-And the giving/helping more I did a pretty good job of too with the Special Olympics thing and donating to disaster relief.
It had its ups and downs, but 2005 was a lot of fun. I learned a lot about myself and other people. Hope everyone had a merry christmas and has a safe new year and a great 2006.
