Spent the weekend playing Call of Cthulhu with Griff, Matt, Ceri, Adrian and Rich.
About 10 minutes after creating the character, I realised he'd be a sanity-loss magnet, as he had a working knowledge of three old languages - Latin, old Hebrew and Aramaic. Oops. But he is a biblical scholar, so it can't be helped. The party had an eventful time of it, but I was surprised to find I didn't read a single insanity-inducing text. I feel a bit hard-done by now. There must be a specific class in the British Museum for insanity books Mr Montague is unfamiliar with. I'm sure he'll find it eventually.
I did lose a bit of sanity from other causes, but really only a bit. My character seems to have a lot in common with Scully - always looking in another direction when something wibbly happens, and not believing a word of what other people say. My main problem is my guy is a bit of a weakling and people keep stabbing him. At this rate, he'll be the only Victorian scholar in full body-armour.
