Ontario Science Centre

Nick and I took my sister and her kids (7 & 9 yrs old) to the Science Centre yesterday. We watched a pretty good Disney IMAX film about the Mars rovers, and we spent a lot of time in the KidSpark, which is a big play area with enormous toys such as a mini-supermarket with working cash registers.

I was a little sad to see that many of the exhibits I loved to visit when I was a kid are breaking down and out of date. The current temporary exhibit (Mars) was pretty awful too (lots of stuff was broken, it was in a couple of small, dark, cramped rooms, and we had to pass through a tiny and shameful product placement area in order to exit).

But there was plenty to hold our interest too. Ashley and I got to touch the big electric ball!

I'd like to go back soon, without kids. We were thinking of buying a membership. The building is immense, and concrete, and tucked into a beautiful ravine, and totally 1970s post-apocalyptic weird and beautiful.
