This week has been super busy at work, kind of stressful, which makes it even more important and rewarding to list out the good things, right?
1. Put together really cool deluxe multimedia feature to go with a magazine article coming out at work. It's modeled on the NY Times "Patient Voices" series, with patient photos that serve as navigation to audio slide shows. The topic of this project is ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) survivors and their families. The photos our photographyer got are awesome while the editor did a great job going through the audio of interviews and picking out which clips to edit together. It's going to be a big "Wow!" piece when it goes up.
2. After like 2 mo. of neglect, have caught up with and balanced my bank accounts with ING. I spent an hour last night figuring out one discrepancy, which was a drag but oddly satisfying.
3. Started reading Dune last night and today got through 70 p. without really trying. Indeed, not unexpectedly, it's a good book. Unlike some other 60s sci fi, like Heinlein, which to me is unreadable. I will say I'm glad I've watched the Children of Dune miniseries several times b/c it helps me to picture things and know how things are pronounced.
4. Despite my stupid fall, managed to "be good" overall this week, in terms of exercise and diet. I got a lot of exercise done Sat.-Mon. I danced and biked and did stairs. All week I tried to curb my tendency to eat more than I need to. That's portion control as well as just not adding on a bunch of sides, like get a bagel, jogurt and soda, NOT bagel, yogurt, power bagel with PB and soda.
5. Discovered that one of the food vendors at the Emory food court, WOW, has really, really good red beans and rice. It's not entirely vegetarian (there's just gotta be some pork in there, if only a little) but I can deal with it.
6. Got my bike fixed. Sure, it sucked when my innertube valve suddenly exploded Sunday, but it turns out that the bike had a bunch of other problems. Got a tune up at my fav bike shop and today when I rode it, it was a way better ride.
