it felt like fall today - much too early. but i got in bed: all warm like a small fever on a chilly dry leafy day, my cold socked feet feeling just a little sweaty, curled toes anticipating blood flow heat. just like since i was 14, all cried out and almost asleep (or not asleep, it's hard to tell), a mixture of teary hormone-y something-in-my-blood making my muscles relax and nerves tingle in pulsating waves. and peace in my head. the calm after the storm, wrapped up safe where no one can find me in a cocoon of my own heat. and couldn't it just last forever.
