Earlier tonight a disturbing thing indeed happened to me on the road. I was passed by a patrol car, but outfitted in green and yellow rather than black and white, and the block lettering on the side proclaimed it to be a "
National Security Agency" vehicle. I was driving, so I didn't have time to inspect the seals and blazons on the side, but it looked very official and very, very scary.
I do, granted,
live in a town where a certain extra number of governmental precautions are taken, but I've never seen this particular sort of thing before, and the appearance of such a creature concerns me nonetheless. The police force of my area is, taken as a whole,
corrupt, vicious and utterly contemptible, but they are straightforward and simple in their brutality. They don't tap phones and listen at keyholes and slowly eat away at your civil rights; they just don't pay attention to them because they're too busy beating your face in.
The NSA, however... "Satan's successes are the greatest when he appears with the
name of God on his lips."
(In no
longer pretty cities there are fingers in the kitties; there are warrants, forms and chitties... "Liar! Slut! Whore! Deny that you let him have his way with you, him with his
armbands and jackboots!")
