Happy Whatever Day

Feb 14, 2007 13:53

Yes, it's that time of the year again. I don't actually celebrate V Day but since I'm a firm believer in 1) the value of the timesink and 2) the positive power of easil amused, I share with you not one but two candy heart generators for your entertainment:

The first one allows for longer messages, but I actually prefer the second one since the results are more true to the original /points to icon

So, go forth and have fun.

On a happier note, today also saw the posting of fic for the Helo ficathon - the aptly named ShAgathon - organzed by none other than the adorably flaily inlovewithnight. Fics are being posted today, but I invoke recipient's rights to gush gleefully over the awesome fic sionnain wrote just for me: Joyride. It's Apollo/Helo and it's hot and sad and sweet and so, so good. Who needs a box of chocolates when you can have porn, I ask? Okay, better yet would be chocolate *and* porn, but porn is a gift from the heart so it totally pwns!

I haven't had a chance to read many fics, but I highly rec asta77's Apollo/Helo fic Impulse which is hot and angsty and oh so good, and romanticalgirl's Dandy. i'm not a big fan of Helo/Sharon (sorry, I just don't find Sharon interesting) but this fic is very hot and picks at some of the subtle ways in which the two characters interact. They might love each other, but for all the similarities Cylons aren't human and vice versa.

In more neutral news, I'm actually workjing from home today for the second day in a row. I had actually tried to go in to work yesterday, only to be thwarted by more asshattery on the part of Metro. After going out into the snow and waiting on a crowded platform for 25 minutes with no trains and no explanation behind the delay, I turned around and came home. I had planned in advance and brought work home with me so it wasn't a problem. and, as if turned out, it was a smart call since the government shut down 3 1/2 hours early anyway.

Today, I opted out again, in part because there were delays reported on Metro but also because the ice storm kept me awake a good part of the night with ice pellets clanking against the windows and the air conditioner loudy all night long. By morning I was still tired and more than happy to take advantage of the offer of liberal leave. And since I haven't had a single message cross either my inbox or my voicemail all day, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

So, to all of you snowed under, hang in there and for the rest of you, remember: it's already Wednesday!
