Golden Week, as they say in China, is a week-long holiday to commemorate the founding of the New China. And of course, like a charity, to do fund-raising in a subtle way by proclaiming holidays so people will travel to commercialized places.
Scenes of the week would be: bumper-to-bumper traffic and a lot of unwanted back pushes from tourists anywhere the scenic spots. Not to mention the deadly body filth. Urgh!
What am I up to?
I'll be off to Datong at 11:00 this evening for two nights there, then off to Baotou in Inner Mongolia on October 1st. I could not say NO to my student's father who invited me to this city. And to make you jealous, a chauffeur will take us from Datong to Baotou which is an eight-hour ride (back and forth) in the bucolic highway and grasslands of Inner Mongolia.
Isn't it wonderful?
When I come back, expect awesome photos and marvel at how I spread faggotry without the fear of being captured by the Red Army. If they do, I'll convert them into the GLBT community.
