forever alien

this tuesday and wednesday i had the pleasure of seeing and hanging out with sonic boom.
thuesday he played a 45 minute drone with full shruti (electric tambura) and vintage analog synths, oscilators, and samplers of all sorts. buiding and crushing and pulsing and searing sounds pured all over me as the lights reflected the alien on stage. wow. wish he had played longer.

wednesday took the fucking cake. jimmy and cat came down to see this one. at the deitch gallery in SoHo the exhibition was nothing like id seen before. huge rotating spheres with op art designs all around you. stepping further into the gallery i spy a huge rotating moire-pattern platform complete with sonic boom rotaing atop and all the while droning away on his synths. this time he played longer and the set was "deeper" as the depth perception between the artwork and the sounds cascading was really thrown.
afterwords sonic lead me to a ladder that went into the depths below telling me what awaited "made the rest of the exhibit tame".
i proceeded down the ladder and into a room with 30 or so moire wheels spinning away due to the air-flow being funneled in by electric fans. dizzying. sonic posed for marys photos amidst the spirals, should be some fucking cool shots.
i have to say this was one of the coolest things ive seen. words really cant describe.

sonic one
sonic two
sonic three
