So I’m more upbeat today. Yay! Still looking for summer work. I went to an agency yesterday and they said they had something temporary but it wouldn’t start until next month. The Dreaded Mile Run mikaelaree August 7 2010, 13:22:08 UTC
I could never run the mile in time either. I was born with asthma, which was always triggered with exercise and stress. They didn't have the medicines like they have now to control it, so my asthmas was out of control until I was almost 18 years old (I'm in my early 30s now). Anyway, not being able to run the mile made me feel different from all the other kids. It made me really depressed. To this day, I have dreams at night about being able to run and not have trouble breathing. It feels so good. It's like dreaming that you can fly almost.

Anyway, I've been obese (by the medical chart standards) since I was 12. Back then it was only by 40 pounds. What I wouldn't give to be only 40 pounds overweight today. Now, it's more like 140. Scary. I always said, "I'll never let myself get that fat." Now it's just out of control. Enough about me.

I think your goal of running a mile in 10 minutes is a good one. If you are already able to do it in 11:30 minutes, then you are off to a great start. I've never been able to do it in less than 20, so congrats. I wish you much success.
