Where things go awry, once again

Malebogo called me this afternoon when Abbey and I were getting ready to say bye (me on my way home and he on his way to a test). I didn't recognize the number or her voice, but she introduced herself and then got down to business.

First, her pelvis seems to have a hairline fracture? Something or other had happened as part of her carrying Loapi - who was a giant newborn - and now she's strapped into something to allow her bones to heal.

Okay, sounds good.

And then she told me that I might need to find a new place to live.

I was like, what?

Apparently she might be leaving Naledi Secondary School to teach on the college-level, and that would mean vacating the state-owned house she currently is entitled to as a teacher at the secondary school. She'll be finding out if her placement has changed by the end of this month...

After we hung up, I put my head down on the cement table where Abbey and I had wandered to and started to laugh. Really, how else was I supposed to respond?

At least she gave me a couple weeks' notice. As we were talking I already had a few people pop up in-mind who I might be able to ask for (or about) housing. When Abbey told me that his sister was looking around for a different house, anyway, I thought that that might be a great solution (living with the siblings could be entertaining, that's for sure).

But we'll see. Nothing is set in stone (yet), and I've got some time. (I have, however, recently been contemplating shaving my head and becoming a Buddhist nun. Is that too extreme a reaction, though? lol)

I can't wait to see what the future holds...
