Research into possible space anomaly [quantum singularities?] possibly involving red matter

Three ingredients to singularity theorem:
- An energy condition on the matter
- A condition on the global structure of spacetime
- Gravity is strong enough (somewhere) to trap a region
Raychaudhuri's equation:
The divergence of a congruence is defined as the derivative of the log of the determinant of the congruence volume the Raychaudhuri equation is:
Theories of wormhole metrics describe the spacetime geometry of a wormhole and serve as theoretical models for time travel. An example of a (traversable) wormhole metric is the following:
One type of non-traversable wormhole metric is the Schwarzschild solution:
A gravitational singularity or spacetime singularity is a location where the quantities that are used to measure the gravitational field become infinite in a way that does not depend on the coordinate system. These quantities are the scalar invariant curvatures of spacetime, some of which are a measure of the density of matter.
In general relativity, a black hole is a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing, including light, can escape its gravitational pull. The black hole has a one-way surface, called an event horizon, into which objects can fall, but out of which nothing can come. It is called "black" because it absorbs all the light that hits it, reflecting nothing, just like a perfect blackbody in thermodynamics. Quantum analysis of black holes shows them to possess a temperature and Hawking radiation.

[[ooc: Chekov didn't mean for any of this to be posted as he's attempting to figure out how the hell everyone got to the house and if there's any way to get back. Feel free to ask him what the hell he's on or have him explain science stuff. Pretty much everything is from wiki because physics isn't my area beyond basics. If you want to do action tags he's in the dining room surrounded by books and note paper. Again, I can't overstate how fantastic wiki is. Anything in italics is written in Russian. Various links and such can be found when you google black hole + wiki; they're all in the box thing at the top, just click around. Equation/solution names are not said in Russian because I don't think they'd change.]]
