Not a bad weekend all things considered. The Penguins opened camp and played there first pre-season game. The Patriots came crashing down to earth in a big way. That shoe was bound to drop sooner or later and finally did.
We finally made it out to get some airsofting in and low and behold I didn't get lit up like the last time out. I can tell you this much, having your chin split open by a .20 milligram bb from 15 feet away (which happened last time out) sucks on a huge level. I'd be a liar if I said that wasn't in the back of my mind in most of the games tonight but patterns being what they are, it always seems that every time out someone ends up being the proverbial pin cushion and tonight it wasn't me. The guy that got hammered this time out actually had some great matches but in the matches he got knocked out of, he took some serious hits. Every hit he took ended up being a blood welt. I guess it's part of the rush knowing that you can get tore up pretty bad at times during a firefight when your less than 50 feet from someone but when you come out on top it gives you a certain thrill.
Tonight had a little bit of everything. Tense matches, comical matches, which I can take credit for given that I ran right up on my teammate and pretty much boxed us in so that we were in a shooting gallery with no way out. Needless to say we got crushed in that match. Once the sun went down and the field lights came on, everything seemed like it ramped up. A sense of urgency crept into each move for cover because you just couldn't pick up the slight movements that were present in daylight. I had gotten off to a horrid start on my kills to death ratio but as the night sky moved in over the field I brought my kills back up and broke even with some nifty kills. All in all this was one of the best outtings yet and everybody had a great time. I love it when a newbie partakes of the Kool-Aid and gets hooked on airsoft. We got to see it again tonight. HAGO AATR
