This was quite the busy party week for me. I went to two different birthday parties. One on Tuesday, and the other on Thursday. Then I had my closing night cast party for The Man Who Came To Dinner last night.
Tuesday night's party was really quite fun, since one of the first things I got to do when I got there was hang streamers. It was very interesting trying to see me maneuver around the room and the tv while the others were playing Super Mario Bros. I was also unable to resist the food once it got there. I had no less than six pieces of pizza, and a couple of servings of this delicious gooey-chocolate smores cake that was brought. It might not have been the best thing for my diet, but hey, it was a party - And it tasted damn good!
Afterwards, most of us went out to go see Transformers 2 at midnight at the cinema center in Newark. Being on the Rocky Horror cast they have there, I was also given me the added perk of being able to use the senior citizen discount for the movie. Seeing us all react to the ads for Rocky Horror before the movie was also priceless. I may have enjoyed that more than the actual movie itself! It's always fun when we all get together. I'm really glad I joined the cast a while back. It has let me make some new and very interesting friends along the way.
The next party, which was on Thursday, was also for another Rocky friend. We went out to Chili's where I tried out their Guiltless Chicken Platter. I'm actually surprised that I ate every vegetable that was on my plate. I'm not normally a veggie person, but when they're cooked, they taste actually pretty damn ok. Of course, I had to go and ruin that little moment of healthy eating when I proceeded to lick the ENTIRE birthday girl's dessert plate completely clean. I mean, that thing was shining by the time I was done with it! The real fun didn't begin though until after the meal and party was over and it was just a small group of us left.
After regrouping at a friends house, a small band of us packed ourselves into a van and then went out for a quick stroll through Walmart at about 1 in the morning. I had one little moment of fanboyishness when a friend showed me a barbie version of the Wicked Witch of the West. Little Barbie Elphaba looked so awesome, and she even did the witches laugh! Although, if I were to reprogram it, I would be so tempted to put in a little snippet of Defying Gravity in it's place. I just wouldn't be able to resist.
Anyway, after my little fanboy squees, we all then decided to go out for a late night dip in a pool at one of their houses. Haven't gone swimming in a while, I readily agreed and spent about the next hour and a half swimming and noodle fighting in my friend's pool. And you know, the best thing about swimming at night time... no sun burn! Seriously, without sunblock, my pale skin would be peeling and hurting! Chalk that all up to a very bad sunburn when I was young that gave me sun poisoning. I swear, that bitch stung for months! Since then, I've always smothered the sunblock on me whenever I've gotten in a pool during the day. But, I still love to swim. Overall, it was one of the most fun nights I've had in quite some time.
The final party for my very eventful week was the closing night cast party for The Man Who Came To Dinner on Chapel Street. I actually wound up without my shirt on at the last one of these we had. Now that's an interesting story indeed! However, there was no such luck at this party. I was still able to have pretty great and fun time though.
I have to say the best thing about this party was definitely the food. Leave it for a party to make me totally forget trying to keep a balanced diet, and then just splurge on the awesome food presented before me. However, since I have made the choice not to drink alcohol for personal and health reasons, I always find myself looking out for those at the end of the night who have been drinking quite a bit. I do try and make sure that they have sobered up enough before they even think about trying to drive home. Fortunately, they weren't too hammered, so I was able to make sure they were stable enough to go home safely. Also, this almost always makes me the last one to leave any party with drinks, but I don't mind. As long I can keep my friends safe, I'm happy.
At the end of the night, around 4 in the moring, it was just me and Scott by then. He's the current president of the Chapel Street Player's, and it was also his house that we were at. We had a good talk about some of the future shows that could possibly come to Chapel Street and what parts that I could play in them. He's a really cool guy and was quite encouraging and supportive. I really look forward to working with him again some time in the future. So, after our chat, I then left and found my way home at around 5 AM and went to bed.
It was quite the week of partying, if I don't say so myself. :)
