I'm Back, Part 2!

Aug 23, 2006 01:05

So, yesterday I made a brief posting announcing my return.  From the huge amount of responses I got, I can tell everyone missed me so much.  I wanted to give an update as to what has been going on in my life since I last posted in March.  First, I have been doing a lot of blogging on MySpace.  You can find me there under Wickedone73 as well.  Also, I have found a job and this time I really enjoy what I am doing.  I ended up taking a job as a night auditor for the Residence Inn by Marriott in Latham, NY.  I have a lot of experience in the hospitality industry, but had been hesitant to come back to it.  Turns out, it was probably the smartest move I have made in a very long time.

I enjoy being back in the land of hospitality.  I really enjoy my job and enjoy working with the guests that we have here at the hotel.  I had forgotten how much I liked it.  So, with my return to the hotel industry, I decided that this is where I belong.  It is what I do best.  Not to toot my own horn, but I am damn good at what I do.  Since I have made the decission to make this my career, I am beginning to put together a plan on how to furthur it.  I found a great website for hospitality jobs that has really given me a lot of insite as to what different management companies are looking for in their managers.  The website is HCareers.com, in case anyone is interested.  It is a clearinghouse of all hospitality jobs in the nation and around the world.

In other news, J (
Cubnurse)is doing wonderfully at his career.  The nurses, doctors and patients all love him.  He is still working evening shift, but hopefully will be switching to nights in October.  That will make our lives a lot easier as we only have one car right now.  I think that come January he is going to be made an RN3, that will be accompanied by a pretty big raise.

Money wise, things are getting easier too.  We are still scraping by, but it is a little easier.  Even though I don't make a lot of money at my job, it is enough to get us through the off weeks that he doesn't get a paycheck.  It is also helpful in paying off some of our overdue bills.  I can't tell you what a relief it is to be able to pay most of your bills on time and to be able to put money aside in a savings account.  It is a great feeling, I recommend it to anyone.

We are going to Toronto in a week and a half for a small vacation.  It will be our first trip since we were there last October.  We are going with another couple we know for Bear Meat 2006.  It should be a blast and we are looking forward to it.

In other news... the cats are doing great.  I need to get our pictures developed soon from the past year.  Osiris is getting bigger and bigger.  I don't think he will every stop growing. Our niece and nephew are great.  Our nephew Max just celebrated his fifth birthday.  I can't believe he is five.  Where has the time gone?  Sarah is just a little bundle of joy.  She is always smiling and happy and seems to be one of the most well behaved children I have ever met.  One of our best friends, Johanna (
Destinyrose10), just got engaged to her boyfriend this past weekend.  If you click on her page you can see the proposal.  It is so romantic.

All in all things are great.  I do have some sad news to report.  We have decided that we will not be moving out to Las Vegas.  It was a tough decision to make, but we feel it is the right one.  My sister is staying in the area and J really has a great thing going at work and, now, so do I.  But, with any luck we will be traveling more extensively soon.

Thats it for now.  Will catch you all later.
