Stonewall looked down at the resume in his hand. "So." His big voice rumbled across the the room. "What Brings you here today?"
"Well." The woman reached up and adjusted her ponytail." I was looking for a part time job and saw your add in the paper." She gave the huge man a small smile."So I thought what the hell?"
"So what skills can you offer The League of Really Cool Super People?" The Flying Squirrel said from her perch by the window. "What are your abilities."
"Well for one." The woman broke off when her cell phone rang. "OH excuse me for a moment."
Stonewall stared as the woman flipped open the phone and spoke quickly into the receiver.
"What? Now calm down honey." The woman spoke clearly and calmly despite the plainly audible yelling that was coming out of the small electrical device."You said you need 5 dozen cupcakes? But you didn't tell me that last night."
The Flying Squirrel jumped down from her perch and walked over to the table. She pulled out a chair and sat down, watching the woman closely.
"No no." The woman said. "Don't worry. Just go to school, I'll bring them up by third period. Is That your brother crying in the background? Put him on."
Stonewall glanced at his team mate and raised his eyebrow, his large hand reaching for the pitcher of water on the table he made a gesture at The Flying Squirrel and she nodded holding out her own glass.
"Now Monkey, what is wrong?" The woman asked her voice changing as she dealt with his next crisis. "No sweety. I washed your blanket. Did you look on your bed? No? Go look, Mommy will wait."
Stonewall was so busy listening to the woman on the phone that he was not paying attention to his own strength. The glass pitcher shattered in his hand.
"Damn it." He hissed as glass shards bit deep into his palm. The big man winced and started to pull the glass shards out of his flesh.
"See I told you it was there." The woman had risen off of her chair and grabbed the huge bag at her feet, and was standing next to Stonewall. She grabbed his hand and started to clean the cuts while still talking on the phone."I know. I know you were upset, but it all good now right Monkey?" She tossed the antiseptic wipes into the trash and pulled out several Scooby-do band aids and started to bandage Stonewall's hands. "Yes Yes. Mommy loves you too. Now put Daddy on the phone."
Stonewall arched his eyebrows when the woman almost reflexively kissed his forehead and walked back to her seat.
"Did you get the note I left on the counter dear?" She asked. "Yes The one that reminds you that it is your Secretaries Birthday? You did get her a gift right?" The woman sighed and put her face in her hand. "I'll call and have flowers sent. Yes I am at my interview. Alright. Alright. I love you too. Bye."
Both Superheros watched as the woman stood up and smiled softly at them."I'm sorry I have to go." She grabbed her bag and started towards the door. "Family emergencies."
"But. But."The Flying Squirrel said almost desperately."We have dental and paid vacations."
Stonewall reached out and put his big, brightly colored bandaged hand on her shoulder."Let her go." His eyes followed the woman who was dressed in jeans and a sweater set out, of the office."She is over qualified anyway."
