I’m a woman. Biologically, I mean… not just socially or mentally. I have ovaries, I have the bone structure of a woman. However, by Victoria’s Secret’s standards, I must not be a woman.
I have small boobs. Let’s be honest here and say that I don’t even fill out an A cup. Finding a bra that fits me is damn near impossible. The ones that do fit me without any issue look like training bras. That’s because THEY ARE training bras. When choosing between feeling like I look like a ten-year-old and wearing a bra that’s a little too big for me, I choose the loose bra route.
Contrary to Victoria’s Secret’s belief, we of the small bust line ALSO like to feel like we look good. Bras aren’t only for support (which women like me don’t *really* need), or else they wouldn’t be made in many different fabrics and designs. However, Victoria’s Secret, who is supposed to be the underwear guru of the US, doesn’t even think we’re worth mentioning. Not only do they have a limited selection of bras that come in an A cup, but the ones they do offer have about six inches of padding in them. I guess they assume that if you’ve got small boobs, you should be ashamed of them and want to pump them up as much as possible. “But, oh, Amber, they DO offer bras in small cup sizes! They even have some AA cup sizes,” you may say. And you’d be right, they do have a few bras that come in AA’s. But the band size is only offered in a 32. I’m a relatively thin woman, I’d say, and I still have to get a 34 in Victoria’s Secret bras.
I could keep going the route I’m going now of buying bras that are too big for me to wear at work, and then just lose the bra when I’m at home. But I don’t think I should have to. Why can’t I wear a bra that is comfortable and makes me feel good about myself? I have a thing about underwear - it’s one of my favorite things to buy. Why can’t I coordinate bras with underwear?
I’ve searched online to find small bra specialty stores, but there are only a few. And they’re overseas. And the prices are astronomical. Does anyone know of any places that sell small bras that won’t cost me £65? Am I the only one who thinks this is a shitty deal? Does anyone have a ton of money and business sense, and want to start this store with me?
