argh! calling all techies!
ok...so now I'm just plain pissed off.
I get my computer up and running...and yes there are viruses on it that are proving super difficult to remove...but someone told me to download the trial of Norton and go from there.
Well, that's what I did...i downloaded the trial and during the install it apparently scanned and found the trojans in my registry. yay, right? no. Then it proceeded to go ahead and quarantine one of them....this one just HAPPENED to be my "wininet.dll" file. SO, what happens when you Wininet.dll file is quarantined? You cannot open internet explorer, aim, spybot, adaware....pretty much anything that uses the internet to function.
THEN Norton decides it can't finish the install because there's something wrong and to check the troublshoot page. I do so. The trouble shoot page said it can figure the problem with it out and tell me how to fix it exactly...just click here...and also it will only work with Internet Explorer. You can also download the uninstaller for Norton here.....with your Internet Explorer.
EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT i CAN'T OPEN INTERNET EXPLORER!!!!!
I tried repairing XP and seeing if it will fix the problem and no dice.
I am completely exhausted with trying to figure this out, I'm at my wits end and I have completely no idea what to do. 302 days without a computer and now I have to deal with THIS. I'm so frustrated I could scream...rather loudly..and at great length.
Should I just say fuck it and goodbye to all my music and get a whole new harddrive and start from scratch??? Or is this fixable? help me!
