Day one of week without Hubby

Jan 18, 2009 10:28

So Hubby is off to Arizona to visit parents for a week and their 80 degree weather, leaving me back in frigid town with nothing to do for a week but work and take care of the brat cats. It was totally my choice not to go but after the crap winter we've been having, I'm kinda kicking myself for not going at least for a break from this winter. But work wouldn't be comfortable with me gone for a week either so here I stay, all alone and already bored and unmotivated. Boy, there was excitement in getting Hubby to the airport, though. We had freezing fog last night/this morning and the roads were sheets of ice, ice which apparently most folks didn't know how to drive on. Accidents littered the route to and from, flares blazing a path and crunched cars every which way. I actually made good time back home though considering the mess. Since I knew Hubby had a bit of a wait at the gate, I gave him a call to let him know I made it home alright. I'm quite the timid and nervous driver so he worries about me almost as much as I do. :o)
However, he treated me to a late holiday techy gift that is already helping my lack of confidence on the road, I now have GPS. Yippie! I've been wanting one for a while but he was hesitant to take the plunge without having some built in traffic update function. The version we got has something of that but I think it might need and accessory for it. Anyway, it is such a relief having that rather than relying on googlemap printouts. This way if I miss a turn, it reroutes. YAY!

I watched Demons eps. 3 last night. I'm trying to care, I really am but even Philip seems like he's just phoning it in a bit. It's not a bad way to pass time but I can't see investing any effort into being a fan other than watching. Man am I ever ready for Ashes to Ashes. I need me some Gene Hunt!

I also re-watched Doctor Who season 4, eps. 10 Midnight on BBC America. I know many folks didn't care for it since it lacked Donna but I really like that episode. It didn't depend on special effects or CGI monsters at all, instead it put a lot of trust in the actors and the script to create creepiness and suspense. It's a stage play mystery feeling which I love. David is just so good in it. But man, the poor Doctor seriously needs a vacation after all the angst of the past 3 seasons. I suppose that may be why they went more fluffy with the Christmas episode this year.

Well, I have Merlin episodes to watch. Not a great show but not bad either. I'd have to say its better than Demons. Man, Tony is damn sexy-hawt as Uther, isn't he? I may need a good stern expression Uther icon. I'm a bit confused on the odd interpretation of Arthurian canon but also enjoying the spin on it. But I must have missed episode one so I don't get the relationship of Morgana to Uther and Arthur. I'm sure there are tons of fansites which could explain this in detail but I can't be bothered. I just want to see grumpy Tony looking stern and damn sexy. How does he do that???

What the heck am I going to do with myself? I have loads of unfinished fics to write but my muse has reverted to an elementary school level. I think I need coffee. Caffeine free of course (grumble) but it may trick my mind into waking up.

I already miss my guy. I'm so very lame. There is no way I'm going to sleep tonight without him next to me. *pouts*
