Hey. I'm not gonna talk about FF-XII in this entry. Deal? Deal! But in case you're wondering, I just entered Valley of the Dead a minute ago. xD
So, about the West Side Story production I'm working with...
We had a long weekend rehearsals this week. And the band came to join us. At first I was really REALLY skeptic with the band (meaning, I was almost cutting my wrists open with anything in sight). But in the end they played great. Well, not great GREAT, but it sounded quite nice and they managed to keep in tempo. This was actually my largest fear in the first place. The last time I had heard them play (a month ago) it didn't sound like West Side Story at all!
Also, my own students... Especially the 16-18 year old girls, finally in heels, and wearing dresses... They became women! Hallelujah!! And the boys were GREEEAT. And the energy they all got from the band as they did the big dance numbers. <3 The mambo was pure passion. *insert mental image of hyper wicked in the empty audience cheering for his students sweatting on stage* Not to mention, our Tony and Maria... They finally 'fell in love on stage'. I could hear how the largest stone on our director's heart fell off this afternoon. :D
We have one month 'til the premiere (minus the holidays, of course) and it already looks like something I'd imagine it would with their dancing and acting experience (= zero with most of them). So, I'm really happy we can dig more out of them. And we told it too! "You're good. But we're not settling for good. We want better."
I'm sooo proud of my little ones! (It's scary, they're like, what, 10 years younger than me! T___T)
