A/N 2: I am going through fics I've posted at IF and getting them on my LJ.  Figured I'd share them at P&P.
A/N 3:  Song fic drabbles

Challenge:
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabblet/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterward!  (DiNovia says: Yeah, right.  Like I can control that. Wickedgrrl agrees though she did try.)
4. Do ten of these, then post them.

Make Me an Instrument (artist unknown)

Natalia did her best to sing along to the hymn. Every few lines she would take a shuddering breath to ease the building tension. The lump in her throat made it hard to keep up with the organ but she was determined. This is where she finds her peace; this is where she knows who she is and what she believes. This is home to her. Sure the priests are different and she barely recognizes anyone in the crowd but it doesn’t matter. They don’t matter. It’s the ritual. It’s the symbols of her faith. It’s the always forthcoming forgiveness. Perhaps for lent this year, its Olivia she’ll be giving up.

Will He Ever Go Away (Reba McEntire)

Natalia slid down the door clutching her cross to her chest. In her tight grip she felt her rings squeezing against her fingers. Her cross and her rings. Did they really mean so little to her now?

Thank Goodness (Kristen Chenoweth)

“Couldn’t be happier.” Natalia hated those words. It’s what Olivia had said to her the day she became Mrs. Frank Cooper. She hated them yet she clung to them as her lifeline to her heart. Everyday she found a manner in which to use them, “how’s Frank?” “Is this thin enough for your turkey slices?” “Didn’t you know Olivia’s met someone?” With an empty breath she managed to reply, “Couldn’t be happier.” Her wedding day hadn’t been the first time she’d heard those words. No. They had been whispered in the dark, in another time, another place.

In The Morning (Norah Jones)

“Olivia!” Natalia called out just as she caught the screen door before it closed. She grinned when she saw her wife immediately pat down her pants pockets. They had done this so many mornings, because no matter how many times Natalia reminded her, Olivia always left her cell phone on the charger in their bedroom. As she watched the woman who years ago had invaded her dreams strut back to her, she had the sneaking suspicion it hadn’t been by complete accident that the phone had been left. They had been so busy this morning getting Emma out the door they barely said hello. Jr. High School started a little later than elementary had so she didn’t know why they still had such troubles getting her there on time. Natalia was amazed at how her pulse could still race from just a look. But the one she was receiving right now from Olivia most certainly had her heart elevated, perhaps it was the memory of what that look could lead to when unprepared. Then again, Natalia knew she wasn’t kidding anybody least of all herself. She had no defenses against that look, all the preparation in the world hadn’t kept her from melting every damn time Olivia wanted her to be a puddle.

The Weakness in Me (Joan Armatrading)

It had been crushing. A pain like no other she had experienced. It was different than it had been when she thought she might have lost Emma as a toddler. That was pain. But this, this was an ache that never eased. There was no relief from it. Nothing to make it stop. They had had four years together. Four years that had seen their children bond as siblings. Had seen them both grow and change as women facing the world together. Then it had happened. It had been an ordinary day. Emma was at school. Rafe was at work. She had left the office early after a meeting had been cancelled and decided to take a walk in the park. There across the pond was an auburn haired woman feeding the geese and behind her touching the small of her back was her Natalia.

Baba (Alanis Morissette)

The crash of the first dish had shocked Natalia. The second had liberated her. She threw one for the death of her husband. She threw one for the amount of hate she felt for Olivia for living and not caring. She threw one for falling in love with her anyways. She threw one for her son abandoning her and leaving her alone with a tycoon that had ruined her world. She threw a dish in anger at her guilt for feeling anger. She threw one for having sex with Frank. She threw one for not loving him. She threw several dishes because she couldn’t just kiss her. She threw every dish she could reach. Except one. When she picked up the mug Emma had made for her for their first mother’s day together. That one she turned back to the sink and washed before placing it on the empty shelf.

Understand (Christina Aguilera)

The glow flickered on the walls in the hall before she could even see into the room. She hadn’t seen Olivia in days. They had gotten so adept at not being in the same room at the same time. Natalia hated the distance but she wouldn’t put Emma in danger because she couldn’t stop a rush of irrational feelings. So the distance had been necessary. Apparently, Olivia was putting an end to that holding pattern. Large dripping candles of white wax were covering every surface available in their living room. A small table for two was set in the middle of the room. It had two long taper candles that hadn’t been burning for more than a minute and Natalia briefly wondered where Olivia had made her escape. On the table lay a pastel pink garment box with a single deep purple rose and note, open now. Natalia lifted the rose to inhale its scent before setting it aside. She lifted the lid from the box and opened the tissue folded across the garment. Inside was a silky dress, the color of the rose. And another note, Trust me?
