Fic: Within These Walls
Title:Within These Walls: 20 things Zuko and Azula hid behind the palace walls.

Author's Notes: This is an unofficial claim for 20_bendings. That comm looks very dead. And I am teh sad. Then I just decided to go ahead and write anyway. Yay me.
1 - Zuko taught Azula to swim, though she would never admit this and would reduce anyone who dared to say otherwise to a cinder. He was happy that there was something the infallible princess could learn from him. And at the same time ashamed that he used it as an excuse to see her so scantily clad.
2 - Azula walked in on Zuko once, after he had bathed and he was naked from the waist down. She did not apologize and looked indignant when he hissed for her to leave, as if Zuko were the one who invaded her space when she was half naked. It was accident, of course. No need to get so bent out of shape. But Zuko couldn't help but wonder, after the third time it occurred, how many times one could “accidentally” walk in on another before it becomes deliberate.
3 - Azula was the instigator of this torrid love affair. It happened so quickly that Zuko had little time to process it. In a matter of seconds, he was wedged between her lithe frame and the wall with her hips pressed so uncomfortably against his and she said she knew he wanted her. And had not a palace guard passed by in that moment, he would have had her.
4 - Azula is jealous of Mai. Because Zuko pays attention to her. And Azula does not share. Zuko is jealous of Zhao. Because he knows Azula likes him and thinks he's just the greatest. And Zuko does not share.
5 - Azula never did like Mai very much.
6 - Zuko loathes Zhao.
7 - Zuko kisses Azula first, after she comes back from the Royal Fire Academy for Girls. She had graduated and he had only meant to say congratulations. But it sort of came out wrong? Or maybe it came out right. Zuko can't decide.
8 - When Zuko and Azula spar, they end up repeating the same moves on red bedsheets. It is a war of dominance.
9 - Their quarrels are settled in the same manner, a struggle for dominance. Azula is usually the victor.
10 - Zuko is jealous of Azula. Because she is Father's favorite. It shows when he manages to get the better of her, and pin her down to the bed.
11 - Azula is jealous of Zuko. Because Mother loves him more than her. It shows when she sinks her teeth into his lip and draws blood.
12 - Zuko gets bolder. And Azula likes it. But she often has to remind him that she is the one in control.
13 - Azula decides to test Zuko's boldness and suggests they move their meetings outside the confines of their bedrooms (which they now share). And Zuko is stunned when she suggest their parents' room. But Azula reasons that it houses a bed fit for the queen she is destined to become.
14 - They do so and are nearly caught. Azula thinks it is funny. Zuko does not.
15 - Zuko was afraid Ozai will find out. After all, this...unnatural whatever he had with Azula was the perfect excuse Ozai needed to divest himself of his worthless son.
16 - And so when the Agni Kai was declared and Zuko realized just who his opponent was, he felt his heart stop. He was certain his father knew and would reduce him to ash and so he fell to his knees to beg for forgiveness. Though before he had the opportunity to state why he was asking to be forgiven, there was intense heat branding his face.
17 - Zuko failed. Azula was not surprised. And so when Ozai sent her to hunt him down, she did so not because she was ordered to, but because he needed to be punished properly.
18 - Azula is the first to admit she loves Zuko.
19 - But Zuko doubts it. Because Azula always lies.
20 - Then again, after the fall of Ba Sing Se, he believes her when she tells him that his honor has been restored and that they should celebrate.
