Wow, thanks for the warm welcome back :)! I have to say that I *love* my new house, it's so great to finally be settled in. The journey to get her was so damn torturous at times though! Last time I updated, we were caught in up major permit hell, and things weren't progressing very quickly all of a sudden. We did wind up having to stay with my mother-in-law, in her 2 bedroom apartment. It was majorly tough for me...and not because I hate her or anything, she's a kind and well meaning person...but there is a reason people don't live with their parents (or hell, any parents) after they grow up. I was getting to the end of my rope having someone trailing around after me, rearranging a dish towel that I may not have placed back in the EXACT same folding pattern she prefers. She slept on the couch, my husband and I slept in her bed (which to me is just a little icky) and my poor kitty was shut in the spare room, which was full of boxes and storage, and all of our stuff we had brought. Tigger's the one I felt the worst for...she is used to being babied and spoiled, and with us constantly. There, we only saw her for a few minutes in the morning and a few minutes at night. I was paranoid the whole 19 days we were there (NINETEEN DAYS! We were there NINETEEN days!) that someone...a grandkid or one of my husband's brothers...would come by and accidentally open that door and let her out.

But, the last week of February it all turned around...the permits passed, the loan was funded, escrow closed, and boom...we had our house! There was more drama with moving in though, the worst of which was that the previous owners had had a 100 lb. dog that roamed freely through the house, and my husband swore that it smelled like dog, and that he couldn't stand it and felt sick every day. So after debating whether to get new carpet or just a good deep cleaning, we decided on deep cleaning to save money. Well, $600 later, the carpet cleaners did not do as they advertised and get the smell out...it was still quite strong. So rather than have them return and try again, my husband got all new carpet anyway. So $600 down the drain...I was heartsick over that!

However, it's all good now...we have everything set up nicely, I've got all my books & bookcases, we have the aquarium up, pictures and plants, our 2 big screen tv's...it's still kind of unreal to me though, I look out the window and think, this pretty street is *my* street. This backyard is *my* yard.

I wish it hadn't been so long since I've written, I feel like there are so many things I want to write about but don't know where to start! Oh well...all in good time. I have so many LJ's to catch up on, I can't wait to see what's been going on in your lives. It's still been kind of a hassle for me to get online b/c we are waiting for DSL and right now just have dial-up AOL, which you may know is slow as molasses.

Ooooh, I am so excited though...I just read in the Sunday L.A. Times that the director of the awesome indie film "Thirteen" is making a movie out of....Dogtown and Z-Boys! Oh my god!!! One of my favorite documentaries ever!!! (I wrote about it in an earlier journal entry for those who aren't familiar with the film: http://www.livejournal.com/users/wickedcricket/2004/10/24/)

I can't wait to see it. I have no idea when it's even due to come out!
