So, my son and I just got back from the local library (that's like...only two blocks away from the house! ^_^ Yay! Once cooler weather comes, we're going to start walking over there during the day. The kid's section is upstairs and the attending librarian is so cool! She enjoys playing with Darian and is always a big help in finding books for him. She even sat with him today and helped him read a book he found. He actually read a lot of the words, too. *sniffles* My little boy is getting so big!)
And thus, the adventures of books I found! (Yes, this is actually relavent to the craft side of things. Don't think I'm going to make this kind of post every time I go to the library... Unless fellow bookworms start joining and want to see my booklists. *lol*)
For him, we found Two Minute Garfield Stories, Garfield Discovers America, and Stanley's Wild Ride, written by Linda Bailey.
Fiction wise, he only gave me time to find one book, which happens to be Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett. I've read it several times before, but I wanted to read it again, and they actually had it, so... *snatch!MINE*
Okay, craft wise! Umm...
1. Crochet Bags! by Candi Jensen : It has patterns for 15 different bags and purses, a few of which I wanted to try out.
2. Ponchos & Wraps - a Knitter's dozen by .... It doesn't actually give an author's name, so... Umm... Anyway, there were some really pretty ponchos, and concidering that it does get cool but not often cold here in Alabama in the fall, I wanted to have something better than a coat to wear on my walks. Besides, I just like the way ponchos look. ^_^
3. So Simple Crochet by Melody Griffiths : There are a handful of jackets, coats and sweater patterns in this book that I wanted to have available for this winter, so I snatched it up to be able have them ready in time for cold weather.
4. Knitting in the Round, edited by Jeanne Stauffer : Socks. That's why I got this one. It shows a more detailed instruction for how to use those goofy doublepoint knitting needles, plus circular needles, and I need to know how to use those in order to make socks and knitted house slippers. And sometimes sweaters, tube scarfs, and hats.
5. 100 Crochet Projects by Jean Leinhauser & Rita Weiss : Oh come on. If you can't figure out why I got this one, there's something we seriously need to talk about. It's the Big Book o' Crochet Patterns! Duh!
6. 100 Hats to Knit & Crochet by Jean Leinhauser & Rita Weiss : Again, a Big Book o' Patterns, this time specifically for hats. There are some really cool ones in it, so what better way to collect patterns than out of a book with 100 of them just for hats?! ^_^
And there you have it. I'll keep you posted on which patterns I decide to try and post links to pictures and all that jazz.
Oh, and by the way, a NaNoWriMo sneak peek at one of my characters for this year!
The Doublepoint Ninja! She who weilds doublepoint needles with deadly accuracy. *lol* (Yes, I'm really doing it!)
Also, I picked up three movies: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Red Riding Hood. Obviously, the last one is for me and my hubby to watch. What I think is cool is my local library lets you keep movies for up to two weeks! Wow! O_O The other library we go to only lets you keep them for two days, thus the reason we usually get them on Friday so we get to keep them an extra day. *lol* No more with this new library! <3
